Introduction of Augmented Reality (AR)

Augmented Reality (AR) technology combines visual representations of real-world objects, while improving user engagement of their surroundings.

Throughout this course, live training from the instructor will lead participants to understand about the Augmented Reality (AR) technology works including steps to develop AR mobile applications.

By end of the class participants will be able to: 

  • Understand the fundamental of AR content
  • Develop basic AR app
  • Implement image recognition and object tracking
  • Use of Geolocation functionality

Develop AR App with Vuforia and Unity 

Throughout the basic process of learning, participants will learn how to build AR applications using Vuforia and Unity which create immersive experiences across business and industries. Vuforia Engine’s recognition and tracking capabilities can be used on various images and objects of user interaction. 

2 Marker Development Features to be focus on based on market demand:

  • Marker Based AR: Image Targets able to attach content onto flat images, such as print media and product packaging.
  • Markerless AR: Virtual objects will appear to ‘float’ in mid air besides 3D AR object placement to flat surface to increase realism. 

By end of the class participants will be able to

  • Install and configure Vuforia and Unity engine
  • Build an AR application overlays computer-generated data over live real-world data
  • 2 type of Marker development will be learn:
  • Marker Based (Image Targets)
  • Markerless AR Technique
  • Test and deploy AR mobile app

Develop AR Application with Unity (Multiplatform)

The advancement of Unity AR foundation program, enabled developers to create AR apps that run both on iOS. From here, participants will learn ARKit and ARCore for both platforms from a single code base. 

ARKit is a framework to build AR experiences for iOS devices while ARCore developed for Google (Android) platform. It's an important session for participants to focus on an essential part which is environmental understanding, motion tracking, and light estimation.

  • Blend 2D or 3D digital objects and information with the real-world environment
  • Use ARKit's functionality for positional tracking and scene understanding
  • Combine ARKit with SceneKit and SpriteKit.
  • Orientate tracking,device positioning and light estimation, including plane detection.
